Moto G4 Play/VR headset issues

Got a VR headset but my phone only seems to be able to detect up and down looks and not left and right is there something wrong with it/something I can do to fix it or is this just an aspect of it

That seems a bit odd actually, so it's apparently detecting movement in one axis but not the other. It's definitely not right. I'm thinking it could something wrong with the gyro or accelerometer sensors. Suggest you try CPU-Z, and you should see changing values for all X, Y and Z axis as you move the phone around.

I have all 3 changing axes on the accelerometer but I have no gyroscope measurements on there, hope you can make sense of this.
