Because we need somewhere to complain that the Z is not going to be fully unlocked like the X Pure/Style. I don't want Verizon's crapware and need a forum to properly whine in 
Don't get the carrier version, buy an unlocked one. Bare in mind it will be full retail price rather than subsidized by the carrier.
No, that's the thing. The unlocked X had radios for every carrier in the US, I have one on Verizon with no bloat, pretty much straight up vanilla Android. The Z will be Verizon branded (bloated) or unlocked for GSM only. I refuse to play the branded/bloat game but the pickings are slim. That's why I love the X, it is Verizon-bandwidth happy. UGH. Stupid Lenovotorla.

Yup. The Z and Z-Force here will initially only be available on Verizon and Droid branded. Then other carriers will get the Z later BUT they will be GSM only, there will be NO version of the unlocked phone to run on Verizon. A huge step backwards. Huge.
