Motorala Droid X2 browser no longer supported/Google Play Store

Answer found: I have a Droid X2 (Wi-Fi only now to keep some games), and when I went to the Google Play Store, it said "my browser was no longer supported". Then the continuous loop of trying to install other browsers, which linked back to the Google Play Store. Frustrated, but I found a working answer. On the Droid X2, go in to Settings, Applications, check Unknown Sources, and acknowledge the warning. Then go to apk4fun and download the apk file for UC Browser Mini. Since outside sources do pose a risk, I always scan the download next (AVG for me), then say yes to install. Once all of that is done, open the browser and log in to a Google service like Gmail, leaving the "keep me signed in" checked. After a while, the Google Play Store updated itself, and then updated several apps. When you open UC Browser Mini, at the bottom right is the 3 bar app's settings. Go to advanced, and make it your default browser. Super fast, easy to use, easy to change settings! This was in regards to Android version 2.3.5. Don't forget to go back to your settings on the phone itself, and uncheck unknown sources!

Since initially posting this, I've found some things, read some things, and learned some important things. Instead of UC Browser Mini only, I've added Firefox, and Dolphin Mini Browsers. Something worked, as Google Play services on my smartphone asked for my new password, which I entered on the P.C. A special note, after installing a new browser, go in to settings, manage applications, and find any old browsers. Uninstall all browsers you're not going to be using, and keep the stock browser. Go into the stock browser and clear "defaults". The next time you use a browser, you should be able to choose which one. Click make default for this action, then check whichever one works best on what you've got! Initially, I liked Opera Mini, but it seems to be blocking the installation of other browsers. Widgets from Motorola and Android include sync options. Under power control, I was able to choose Wi-Fi only for sync in my situation. Lastly, double check Google Settings (looks like a sprocket), check to make sure you are not logged into anything via Google that you don't want. In my case I found a couple of programs that I had since uninstalled. Hope this helps someone! You can also add Google Play Store as a widget too!

Ahhhhhhhh!!! Could a simple little thing like a symptom, actually have been the cause of all of my problems? The Date and Time feature wasn't working. Well, all of the security certificates for apps and programs have a start and end date! Go to (Droid X2) hard settings key, soft settings key, Date and time, and uncheck "Automatic" and set your date, time, and time zone manually! My computer thought everything happened on January 25, 2012 :) New security certificates may not have been accepted because of this. Or, Google fixed something we'll never know about, and I've just wasted a considerable amount of time and effort circumventing Google walls like un-secure applications, and trying to add different browsers! An exercise in logic if nothing else.

One piece of bad advice, and so much effort to fix it! My service provider gave me the incorrect instructions on how to go wifi only on the Droid X2. The correct answer was posted here back in October 2012 by Coolpoete. Search "skip activation for wifi only". Coolpoete shared the correct answer!!! By the way, switching to airplane mode was the wrong method, and the root cause of the clock/date/time error I fell into.
