Motorola Droid Wallpapers: Make your own.

Just after buying my brand new Droid four days ago. One of the very first things I did was create my own wallpaper for it. The size of the wallpaper is not what you think it should be. It's not the width of the screen (480px), it's not even three times the width of the screen due to the fact that the wallpaper slides at a different rate as the apps on your phone. The correct dimensions for a Droid wallpaper are actually 960x854px.

So, I created a Photoshop file set to the perfect dimensions, also including guide lines depicting where important key areas of your screen are so you don't have anything covered up, etc... I've attached the compressed photoshop file at the bottom of this thread.

Make sure you save out your images in a high quality format like a png-24 for best results. Then, upload your images to your phone!

PS: After you upload your images to your phone. Open up the image in the gallery app. Find your desired image. Click on "Set as" > "Wallpaper". Then press and hold your finger on the orange 1px border that is around your image and drag that line to the top of your screen so you get 100% of the image. Press "Save". Done. Awesome.

I tryed to click on the attachment to get it downloaded and it says that it cannot download because the content is not compatable. Got any idea what im doing wrong or how to fix it?

You should be opening it on a PC or Mac with software that can open Photoshop .psd files.

Zip is a compressed file, can be opened with many different apps.
a nice free one for windows os is 7-zip
for mac:
Double-click the zip file to unzip. Depending on your settings, downloaded files may automatically extract to a new folder. The original zip archive will be saved; check for a folder with the same name as your zip file

It made me crop the pic....

Even at 960x854 the phone still asks you to crop, but when you move the box you will realize that the entire image fits. If you really dislike cropping that much you can use the Wallpaper Set & Save app. No cropping there

ah. didnt realize that if you hold down on the edge it gives you this option. i tried pinching and what not....to a fail.
