Motorola G4 Plus gone crazy!

Dear Experts,

My Motorola G4 Plus keeps going crazy.

I call it:
Cell Phones Gone Wild.

When it goes crazy, I have absolutely
no control over it at all.
Can't navigate. Minimize. Close any app.

The only thing I can do is to push the
power button until it reboots. And
even that it affected, as it takes
a lot longer to initiate the reboot.

This has been going on since last fall!
It's very tiring.

I've uploaded a video to Youtube.
See it here:

What do you think is happening?

Has the phone been hacked?

How can this be fixed?

Thanks a lot!

PS: I expect that the developers forum is best
for this question

-- Try booting your phone up into its Safe Mode. While running in Safe Mode it's just a 'clean' Android OS, no third-party apps are getting pre-loaded. If your G4 Plus is more stable while in Safe Mode that's an indicator some app you installed previously is creating a problem. Determining just which one is going to be a process of elimination but at least it's a start. If your phone is still unstable while running in Safe Mode you might want to try wiping the system cache partition. This is a more thorough description:
http://www.android.gs/enter-android-safe-mode-motorola-moto-g4-plus/
-- The internal storage in your G4 Plus is divided into several partitions. The system cache resides in its own dedicated partition and it's completely separate from the data partition, where all your files and things are stored, so this won't affect your stuff. You do need to boot your phone up into its Recovery Mode to do this however. Recovery Mode is a text-only interface so do this carefully and just follow the indicate buttons to navigate through the various menus. Select the 'wipe cache partition' option (this shouldn't take more then a few seconds to do), and then restart your phone. This link has instructions on how to start up into Recovery Mode:
http://www.hardreset.info/devices/lenovo/lenovo-moto-g4-plus/recovery-mode/
-- If your phone is still acting up, you can try doing a Factory Reset. Be sure that any files, photos, and things you saved to your phone are safely backed up elsewhere.
-- The last resort option is to re-flash the stock ROM. Flashing a ROM on a smartphone is basically the same as reloading the operating system on a computer. Here's a general walk-through on the process, it's not necessarily difficult but it is quite involved so just go step-by-step. Also it's important to use a ROM specifically matching your particular model of G4 Plus.

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

A few points.

...

The symptom only presents itself intermittently.
When I've only got a few simple apps open.

Sometimes when I've opened no apps at all.

...

I have already tried wipe cache.
Same issues.

...

I have tried uninstalling a number of apps
that I rarely used. Same issues.

...

As for safe mode, I have very few apps on my phone.
And I use only a few apps:
Phone,
text
Browser
Chess
Simple notepad
Navigator
Task Manager
etc

I'm constantly checking Task Manager, and
killing apps that stay open in the background.

Unfortunately, unlike Windows Task Manager,
this app for Android only shows what is running,
no other details. Gives a means to kill the app.

So, I doubt the symptom is caused by opening a particular app.
There is no pattern here.

...

Is there an app for Android, similar to
Windows Task Manager, giving
CPU data, current, and total, by process?

...

Since last post, I went into

All apps, Device help, Fix, System software,
Apps running on start up: 14

Yet, in Task Manager, I don't see them running at all.

...

I'm reluctant to do a factory reset.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Approaching any Android device the same way as a Windows PC is not going to make your phone run better, if anything it will be a problem. These are two completely different operating systems, with little similarity in how they function on a lower level. One example being a utility like Windows Task Manager. Android's memory management is pretty advanced, a user trying to micromanage it hoping to do better typically results in a less stability and more problematic performance.

It's basic instrumentation, utilities.

I do it for: Windows, Linux, Oracle.

If I can isolate excessive CPU by process,
then, I should be able to isolate
the culprit.

Any app out there that can do this?
