Motorola Milestone power button broken

Hi, I have had a Motorola Milestone for about 2 years now and the power button has stopped working. It's out of warranty so it's not worth fixing.

I was reading up and it seems like once the phone is off, I won't be able to turn it back on again, is there any software that I can get that will do it's equivalent? I haven't turned the phone off in a week so I can still access stuff on it.

How are u getting out of sleep mode??

Milestone has a keyboard, slide it/press any button and it goes out of sleep.
