Hi,
I'm curious if anyone else has found a fix for this particular bug? Apparently it's not all too uncommon:

From what details I've gathered, Attempting to connect to a Wi-Fi network will cause the device to act erractically. Reseting, lagging, and most concerningly, freezing entirely when attempting to access any app screens that involve the Wi-Fi connection routine (Phone Portal, Wi-Fi Preferences, even 'Status' under 'About this phone'). The Wi-Fi never actually connects to a network.
And from those details I've gathered only two fixes so far:
1) Do not turn on Wi-Fi. This isn't much of a resolve, and is a nod for me to give up the phone/service, as that was one of the draws. Plus now, as it's apparently difficult to turn off once it's turned on (as it then freezes on the Wi-Fi Preferences...) a factory reset is required.
One individual said you have better luck to unplug your router, turn off your device, and then attempt to disable Wi-Fi then, but I had no such luck, and still encountered freezing.
2) After 'so many' battery cycles (some suggest a week's worth, others a month's) the freezing merely resolves itself, and Wi-Fi begins to work. I find this solution skeptical as it makes no functional sense from a firmware/application standpoint, but I'm sadly hoping this is factual.
Either way, has anyone else run into this and a possible fix? Will we possibly see a firmware update or a recall even if so many people are getting their phones bricked by this bug?
I've tried deleting the data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf file, as some have said it can create errors, but it's so far done nothing to resolve the issue, either.
On a lighter note, the general sluggishness often complained about with the Spice can be resolved almost entirely by removing the Motorola Flashback app (spicy.apk). I used z4root and root explorer to remove the apk file and my OS fluidity jumped substantially.
