Motorola T215 Battery Life

My Motorola T215 is a little over three years old. It's served me well all these years, hardly requiring recharging (spec is something like 36 hours ON, and months or so off). In fact, the last time I put it on a charger, the green light came on within minutes.

So the other day I kept hearing this faint pleeping that sounded like its linkup sound, only it kept repeating at intervals as I was driving. Since I didn't notice any change in its connection status on my phone, I was left with the conclusion that this faint pleeping was an undocumented signal that the device needed to be recharged.

I've had this thing on a charger for hours upon end -- no green light. In one case it was on a charger for more than 24 hours with no green light. I've had it on a few different chargers with a few different cables, all charging sources that I know work, because they've all been used to charge my phone (and at other times, the T215). Still no green light. In fact, after the 24+hr charging attempt, I was on a call using the T215 that kept getting harder and harder to hear, due to both decreasing volume and increasing distortion. When I got off the call, I asked my wife, "Did that sound like the speaker was giving it up throughout the call?" and she said it sounded that way to her, too.

Does anyone have enough experience with these speakers to know what's going on here?

Thanks, all.

What's going on is that the battery is finally going bad. 18-24 months is about normal for a LiIon battery that's NOT stored fully charged. (Storing it for long periods with a full charge shortens the life.) Consider yourself lucky and buy a new battery.
