I know that one of these phones is based on speculation and rumors, regarding whether it will even be on VM. But, if it does become a reality, I have a tough decision to make, which is also based on the price & release date of the rumored phone.

Anyway, I already have the LG Op V and I'm fairly satisfied with it, but the main reason I want to upgrade is due to the lack of internal storage on my current phone. The bottom line is, if I do choose to get something new, should I go ahead and get the recently-released MotoTri or do I take a chance & wait for the Op Black?

Mind you, this is only my personal view so take it with a grain of salt. ;)

If I were to consider upgrading to one of those phones, I would wait for several months after their release before I made a decision. What I would do during that time is research, research, research, and research some more, all of the forums where the two phones are being discussed. I would read online reviews, watch Youtube vids about them or anything else I could find. The things I would take note of first are major issues people are having with the phones (hardware especially).

As a consumer, having firsthand knowledge about both phones will go a long way in helping you make your decision. After all, it is your hard earned cash you will be spending with the assumption that you will not be upgrading again anytime soon.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Thanx 4 ur advice. :)

Just out of curiosity, I noticed that you have a Samsung Intercept. What is your satisfaction level for that phone?

Yeah, but as soon as you take 3 months to make a decision, then some *newer* and *cooler* phone will get released (or set to be released *soon*).

It's the same way with computers. There's always a newer and better CPU/Harddrive/RAMchip/VideoCard coming down the pipe.

I say look at the 2 phones features and decide which phone right now is the best for you. If it works for you and your situation, get the phone. If not, pass.

That said, my process is usually run out and buy the thing without thinking, then read about how many problems it has, and then figure out if I want to keep it or not. Kind of backwards, but at least I get my hands on the thing for a few days for some real world testing. :D

i say root your V, get it setup for link2sd, and wait and see what people sa about the triumph's issues after it's been out a while and if we get official word on if the black is coming

You're most welcome!

Well, to be honest when I got the Intercept it was my very first Android and I didn't do any research on it (wish like hell I had). My own personal experience with the phone was really good. However, I am not a heavy user (I think I text 4 or 5 people, and have a light stream of texts coming in from Twitter from 3 or 4 people). I don't surf the web, listen to music, or watch videos with it (I use my custom built gaming rig for all that). I "might" use 25 minutes a month. I never had a single issue with that phone while I personally used it. Not one.

I wanted to give my daughter the Intercept and get myself the OpV, which I ended up doing just recently. As soon as I transfered that phone over to my daughter is when the troubles all started. She had no 3G, then there was no texts, then there was double texts, then her voicemail had issues, the phone gets sluggish (I only allowed her 5 or 6 apps) and all kinds of other things. The only difference between her use and mine... she wakes up with 100 to 200 text messages, she texts ALL day long, listens to music (my medical insurance will not cover the surgical removal of the headphones from her ears UGG), watches Youtube, surfs the net, emails everyone and their brother, and also uses Facebook and Twitter. I have to text her to get her attention! LOL

In a nutshell.. if you barely use the phone then it's a great little cell. If yer a heavy user, I do not recommend it. ;)

It looks like I'm the only one who clicked Triumph in the poll. :D

I've had the Triumph for almost two weeks and fortunately I got one of the good ones. But I've been waiting for this phone since it was rumored back in March. I watched it go from being the Huawei IDEOS 6 to the announcement of the MT.
I had the Optimus V and I liked it, but the lack of Flash and storage was a big thing for apps I wanted to use. Plus, I wanted the HDMI out and bigger screen.
I normally wait a few months to check the product out but I wanted to keep my $25 a month plan, and had already dumped my OV. And so far I've been really happy with it. I'm a moderate user of all things (phone, text, apps, web, video, music, streaming) and it's performed wonderfully. But I also know that's not everyone's experiences with it.
So if you don't need the phone right away and can wait until the next gen of VM phones comes out, hold off for a while and see how the Triumph has been fixed. I don't see HDMI out on the Black so I wouldn't have gotten it anyway.

Don't get the Triumph. Since you already have a good working phone there is no reason to shell out for a phone that probably isn't going to make you happy.
And this phone has once again reaffirmed my opinion that Motorola's are overpriced paperweights any more.
Save for the possible Optimus Black. In the mean time you have your V. This may or may not help you. But there is an app called App Monster Pro. It costs for the pro version but it seems to be worth it so far.
It will tell you when an app can be transfered off to your SD card. You could buy a large Micro SD for the V and install the AppMonterPro on your phone and transfer as much over to the SD as you can. AMP will also back up all your installed apps to your SD so if you ever switch phones all you have to do is re download AMP and do a batch install on the new phone and your done.

Quick note. You don't want that phone. The Intercept is a Brain Hemorrhoid (pun intended)
waiting to happen. The phone has been a nightmare for its owners and Samsung since it came out. The slide out key board is attractive but the phone is a PITA.

All I know is that everywhere I seem to look (except for VM's own site), the MotoTri is gettin' shot down left & right!! The worst reviews seem to be coming the most from Best Buy's site. Right now, it's averaging a 2.9 out of 5 (with almost 70 reviews) and has been gradually going down each day I look. Samsung's Intercept is even being looked at more favorable there. ...smh...

I think I'm just gonna hold on to my LG OpV for now and hope that the 'Black' does make it to VM sometime this year.

I've been torn over this as well. I picked up the Optimus V last Spring and have been quite happy with it. It's my first smartphone so I'm easily impressed. But the camera is just barely adequate and the screen is awfully small. I've also been bitten by the tiny internal phone memory issues even though I move everything I can to the SD card.

That's made me desire the Triumph, but I can't see shelling out more for a smartphone when I just bought one this year.

The Optimus Black does look to be a very sexy phone whereas the Triumph is more of a brick. Any idea when VM will get the Optimus Black? In time for Christmas?
