Motospeak without Motorola headset

I am interested in using the Motospeak app to convert text to speech, but do I absolutely need to buy the Motorola H17 headset? I'd like to get a cheaper headset, since I won't use it that much. Thanks.

I recall seeing BlueAnt having a TTS app for their T1 headset. There are some other apps that do TTS for sms and emails, you might read their descriptions to see if they will send the audio via bluetooth or only by speaker.
