.mov file

trying to figure how this works. My son sent me a video taken on his ipod touch. sent it by imessage to my iphone (work) and also sent by email as an attachment. When I downloaded attachment from email on my android (moto x 4.4.4) it will not play which I understand as I need a third party vid player to play .mov files. BUT, if I take the imessage and forward it to my android, I can save the file and it shows in my gallery and will play? Can anyone explain this? I also can't find where it's saved in my gallary/albums but it shows in the app. thanks

Again, I can save media from a text/MMS message and it will play through the stock gallery player. But not when downloaded as an attachment from email? Thanks for answering!

I noticed the same thing on my phone too. I didn't think too much of it at the time but when you mentioned it, yeah it did the same on my moto x. However, if accessed via chrome and run from there, it works too. Perhaps it doesn't play .mov files natively unless either chrome or youtube is running?

I use MX Player from the app store for video formats that won't play through the stock android player. More than likely the videos you get via email are going to your "Downloads" folder. There is an app shortcut to it in your app drawer, or it looks like a black circle w/ a green arrow pointing down in it.
