Move Android Studio to D Drive

I am having the same problem most people have: new computer comes with a small SSD C drive, most of which is dedicated to Windows 10, I need to move AS to D drive.

I followed the instructions on this link and got the "hamcrest" error that many people seem to get:
http://www.littlecpu.com/android-studio-c-drive

This is the error message in the Gradle-Sync box:
Error: Could not download hamcrest:hamcrest-core:1.3): No cached version available for offline mode.

What is the exact, proven step-by-step instruction in relocating AS from C: to D: without spending a few days on it.

PS: Aha, AS keeps creating a NEW .gradle in c:\Users\<username>\.gradle rather than use the one in D drive. HOW do I get AS to use the D:\Users\<username>\.gradle

I would be inclined to uninstall Android Studio from its current location. Then reinstall AS in its new location.
