Help Move gallery to SD to create more storage

My phone memory seems full, and apps won't update. [in settings it says 15.67Gb, max 16Gb]
Although it takes pics etc, how do I interrogate it to determine, it isn't just the app area that is full? [in settings it says 5.58Gb]
All my music and other files are on my SD card.
Is there an easy way to easily move the full Gallery to SD card, and is this recommended?

Why do the manufacturers make these new phones with less memory than a few years back, but file sizes have increased, we do ore on them, and they encourage to migrate stuff from previous phones. This is not the first HTC I have had app storage issues with, there is never enough room!

You don't say what model you have, but can you not just set the camera to store photos to the SD card (via the camera settings)? Media are what the removable card is for.

To be clear, you are not saying that the Gallery app is using 5.6 GB, but that you have 5.6GB of pictures? I can't see any reason you can't just move pictures using a file explorer app (apart from KitKat SD restrictions, which may limit where you can move them to).

Sorry, HTC One M8, ok will select SD at camera.
the 5.58Gb was actually app size, have edited original post.

I want to move the media too, but how does the system, remember this the a current media and continue on from it (not sure how top phrase this)??
