Help Moving installed application from Phone to SD

HI All

Is there any way to transfer applications installed on the internal memory to SD card? My phone's internal memory is nearly full which is forcing me to uninstall several of my applications. From Applications> Manage Applications I can options to transfer from SD card to phone , but I need it the other way round. Also, how can I make the phone ask me where to install an app when I download it? I guess the default destination is the phone?
Please help..........someone surely has the solution!! Sorry if I sound too ignorant!
