Help Moving stuff to SD card Q's...

Hi All,

Installed a 64 gig Samsung card in my note 4 today, all went well. I did this with the sole intent of moving only pictures, music, and DL's to the card, which I did using Windows Explorer via cable. Pretty much had to, because I could not find a method for doing this within the phone's system. So, where is this "hidden" file system located (5.1.1)?

I moved the folders: Download; Movies; Music; Pictures; and Videos. Somehow, my custom ringtone got shanghaied in the process. Where is this located?

And sometime between the card install and boot-up, the system installed an "android | data" folder with a bunch of sub folders. What's that all about? Do apps automatically defer to the SD for storage?

Thanks!

OK, these are either really hard questions or they've been answered so many times people are sick of seeing them. Either way, I can't find the answers I need...

yes, all of the above have been wrung out pretty good before in past discussions.
If the phone has Lollipop on it, a lot of stuff can't be moved to the extSDcard.
Here is a very nice file manager for you to use that can move stuff on the phone itself, or use your WiFi network and move stuff to your PC.

I make a point of copying all Ringtones to my PC, funny things happen on the way to a forum ( jest on Julius Caesar )
and you need to have good solid backups....

the 3 links below should help you out.

* Super Backup : SMS & Contacts - Android Apps on Google Play

* File Manager ASUS - Android Apps on Google Play
this one can talk to a PC thru a network

* Kies | SUPPORT | SAMSUNG

Thanks, much appreciated! I must have read a couple dozen threads on SD cards and finally zoned out. I actually had the ASUS FM on my "wishlist", guess I'll go ahead and DL it. BTW, I think I am Lollipop - 5.1.1?

Hi Russ,

I assume that you have thought of this already, but just in case: Remember to go into each application and change the storage location to the now moved folders above. Otherwise the next time you take a photograph the app will dutifully recreate the folder on the phones storage and put the file there.

Regards,
Eric.
