MP3 files to SD card instead of internal memory?

Hi all. New member here but long-time lurker and forever a tech moron

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 16GB. Intuitively, I loaded the music in the directory SamsungFiles/Music but the 6GB of music together with all the other apps downloaded seemed to slow the phone down a bit. I was told that the music can be transferred to the SD card instead.

Questions:

1. Do I just mount the SD card on my PC, create a directory for the music then drag the files there?

2. Will the phone automatically detect that the music is now in a new directory and play them as before? Or do I need to do some tweaking somewhere? I figure that the music player points to the SamsungFiles/Music directory when launched thus, my query.

Not sure how #1 would work on your device, but I store my music on the SD card, and my player (I use Rocket Player) has no trouble at all.

I should try saving the files on my SD and see if the music player will detect it automatically. Does Rocket Player ask you where to detect the files when it first initializes? The system Music Player does not so it was a wild guess for me to store the files on the system directory provided and it worked.

I used iSyncr to get my music onto my phone, so TBH I don't remember whether or not I had to tell it to look on the card.

Well I experimented and deleted the files in the internal directory. Made a new one in the SD card and it worked! The phone sensed the new location of the music files! Phone's a genius! :deal:
