MP3s from pc to S5

MP3s are the same for Android and Windows, right? I hope that means that I can just copy the files from the pc to the S5. All I have to do is connect them and start copying?

Would ES File Explorer do that? I recently got it but I don't really like all the ads. I guess that's a new "feature". How would I do that, if ES supports it?

I read that I would have to create a shared folder on the pc. How would I do that? Would I also have to make one on the phone? It's a Samsung S5.

First off uninstall es file explorer. Ever since it got sold to the new company it went completely out the window. All the ads you now see and all your info is being sent to them.

What should I get instead? I want something that's powerful and useful. If I uninstall it, will it mess up anything? I used it to switch save location to sd and am now storing photos and videos there (and maybe MP3s eventually).

I did a little reading and it looks as if Solid, X-Plore, or Amaze would be the way to go. Does any of these have an edge over another? Is there anything superior to them? What is SMB and can it be used to transfer MP3s?

I always have just used the usb from my charger to connect to the pc to transfer music. Wifi has aleays been way to slow for my liking. I use Xplore though and love it for a file manger

Ok, I have now downloaded X-Plore. Is it safe to remove ES? Will it damage, change, or remove any files if I do? How do I use X-Plore to copy MP3s from pc to S5?

Thanks, I got rid of ES. Now how do I use X-plore to copy mp3s from the pc to the S5? I guess wifi would be the best, but I don't know for sure because I've never done that. Presumably I could use USB if necessary, but that's clunky and sure takes a while.

I just checked it out and was wondering why all the 1 star reviews, although there was a 5. I guess it depends on what people want it to do. Is there any way to use X-plore, which I already have, to copy mp3s?

Well, I think I set up wifi share with X-plore. It has a wifi address, anyway. How do I make sure it's the right one and what do I do from there?

How do I set up the pc to share files? I just typed in the wifi address and got nothing. Is there something really obvious that I'm missing?

I think I already have that. I okayed sharing files and printers. It seems to be connected by LAN now. How do I look for what I want by using the phone?

If transferring to the phone, open XPlore and establish a connection to the PC first.
Once you have that, navigate to the folder that has the mp3s and choose the files for transfer. Choose copy.
Then find your destination folder on the phone. Choose paste.
It should then start the transfer process

How do I establish a connection? I got the wifi server going on the phone, but the pc's Firefox is showing a blank screen. Yesterday it seemed to work fine. Can I still connect without having to use Firefox? Fyi the pc is a Dell Inspiron laptop, about six years old.

Using XPlore, scan for LAN or SMB. .
The app should find your pc.
You'll need to input your wifi username and password in order to connect by wifi on the phone
Make sure you have wifi running on your phone

Ha ha, the only way this thing is running is on wifi. I'm sorry this is italicized and underlined but I don't know how to shut off these stupid things. I guess I just won't try to use them any more. Meanwhile, Firefox is finally on after Avast said it had to restart the pc. I have no idea why. I guess Firefox has nothing to do with it then. Anyway, thanks again for all the help and Android Forums absolutely rules. You guys are the best and for way more than "just" phones.
