Ms-840- reset intervals?

I resently had to reset my phone which worked beautifully, that is until i got home, service jumped all over the place, making it hard to keep a connection,....so i got frustrated and downloaded connect 4g internet, which had worked before the reset, but this time it didnt seem to solve the problem at all, and actually makes my phone lie know about service which really sucks........i know i have to reset again but dont want to hurt the phone at all, when is the soonest i can do a reset without making things more scary??
