Help MTK Thermal Manager is using loads of data!

I noticed my network activity icon was staying on nonstop, so I downloaded an app to see what app was causing it and MTK Thermal Manager is using more data than anything else. It used like 1.5GB in 3 days! I can't really afford the paid version of Titanium Backup to freeze it, and I tried a firewall app but the problem is it runs in the same process as Power Saver, Key Chain, WakeLockList, Android System, ASUS Splendid, Media Frame, BatteryWarning, Input Devices, Calculator, CMClient, EM SIM ME Lock, Parental Lock, DMClient, Settings Storage, Settings, ASUS Task Manager, DockingHelper, Atci_service, App Locker, Google Backup Transport, Common Data Service and com.mediatek.

Also the data usage section in settings shows that Android OS has been using around 20GB per month since late October which I assume is related.

Please, any help? My tablet is my main device, I use it several times a day every day, and something is clearly wrong with it.

It's an Asus Memo Pad HD7 on 4.2.2

That's the temperature control for the MediaTek processor - pretty sure you want to be careful trying to delete that.

Does it show up under your Apps under settings? Can you clear it?
