MTP bug or feature...?

My phone runs 4.1.2, and only MTP or PTP is available for file transfer. Obviously, PTP is useless for transferring arbitrary files, but MTP seems to work reasonably.

However, I have discovered a strange thing that may be an issue only with my phone, or it may be by design or a plain bug.

So I hook up the phone, select MTP and my W7 recognizes the phone and I can browse the file system. But, if I update a file on the phone, this update is not reflected in W7 Explorer, there the old file is still shown. I have to disconnect and then re-connect the phone for the updated file to be available, and sometimes even that does not work.

I know that the file is updated, because the file manager on the phone shows the new file. But W7 does not see it. This just now caused me a *lot* of wasted time where I thought that I copied the updated file while in fact I did not.

Is this really as it should be?
Seems dysfunctional to me...

And BTW, there are no files in C:\Users\<me>\AppData\Local\Temp\WPDNSE

I tried a couple of things for this ... I use File Explorer on the Android Side and Windows 7 64-Bit on the PC side.

On a Droid Bionic with 4.1.x it behaves the way you describe on both the SD and SD-Ext cards.

On a Droid Maxx with 4.2.x it behaves the way you want. An added file on the phone side is immediately shown on the PC side.

Thanks. I have to wait for 4.2 then...

I definitely think MTP on 4.1 is flawed. I cannot drag a file from the phone to an app on the comp, for instance. Oh, why could we not have the simple mount as USB device option that worked fine?
