Help MTP/Charging issue after factory reset

I have done factory reset on S5 to pass phone on to family member but it was not recognising the phone on his laptop. I have switched back on MTP but every time it is disconnected it switches this off and reverts back to charging only. Sure I used to have this option as a message when connecting the cable. I never had to select this on the phone previously. Any ideas?

USB connection is charge only by default. Each time you connect to PC, you have to pull down on the drop down menu, tap the USB icon and select MTP or File transfer depending on phone brand.
Does they have Samsung USB drivers installed on their laptop?

Hi, do you have "Developer Options" enabled, if not enable this and then open it and scroll down to "USB Configuration" and tap on it and then enable "MTP". Phil
