Help Multi-Tasking?

I am a total Noob to Android, but I love it so far and im really getting into learning more,...one of the reasons I chose to go with an Android phone, was I always read how iPhones dont Multi-task, but Androids do....

How exactly do you Multi-task?

Is there an equivalent of "Alt-Tab" to switch between apps?

All I have been able to do is just press the 'back' button, or Home screen and starting the new app, and back-n-forth

The multitasking is in the way the system handles processes. If you back out of an app go to another one and then even one more also check your email and texts the system will still remember where you were on that first app rather than shut it down like the iphone.

Adding onto what gohaus said (which is completely accurate), you can also see your most recently used apps in the notification drawer & use that to quickly switch between them.

I also forgot about the fact that you have processes running in the background. Lets say you're using a music streaming service (pandora for instance), that music continues to stream after you've backed out of the app while you play a game or browse the internet. Also phones that do not multitask will interior you when you receive a text message. I'm sure I'm missing something else here. Anyone else is free to continue adding to this.
