Multiple Accounts

Hi,

So this has probably been asked a million times but, I've been looking at getting a tablet. But after buying an ipad yesterday and then realising you can't have multiple accounts or user names on it it's pretty much useless as I want to share it with others and access our own information, so that's going back for a refund.

Reading around on the net it seems like all tablets are like this :(.

Is Android the same ? as I'm interested changing the ipad for the Samsung 10.1 but don't seem like it's going to be any different.

I did find an app called SwitchMe, will this fix the issue for multiple user accounts ?

Thanks.

All tablets are the same out of the box and I believe it's because a tablet is like a phone, it's intended to be used by one person with all their specific settings and data. That's why tablets are not setup for multiple logins. And personally, I wouldn't want someone else using my phone or tablet without my supervision and installing all sorts of unwanted apps, whether in a seperate account or not. My daughter has her own phone and computer. I have mine. My wife has hers (she chose a netbook over a tablet though). Devices are getting cheaper, so in time everyone will have their own. Don't get me wrong, I'm not neurotic about it, but I use my tablet for my uses. I let others see what's on it like photos, videos, googled topics, etc. But I don't let others use it beyond that.

Would you hand over your phone and let your kids or friends installs apps and games on it? I wouldn't. But perhaps that's just me.

Yes that app will allow multiple logins, but you need to root the tablet in order for it to work as it accesses system files that Android will not allow you to access without rooting (part of what makes Linux/Android so secure). Rooting voids your waranty as it opens the device up to possible software issues. And the app is still experimental I believe.

But if you're willing to do it, have at it.
