Multiple Contacts in Msg.

Did anyone come across this problem. I have the HTC incredible and when I G-synced it. I had multiple Names in my contacts.That's not the problem, I deleted them. What I have now is Multiple People's names in my messages. By that I mean, when I go to send a new msg and look up a name there are Multiple names of each. Thanks All Slowhand
