Apps Multiple simultaneous bluetooth devices possible?

Im doing some application design work for some Android applications, and wanted to know is it
possible for an android app to :

a) connect and interact with more then one bluetooth device at once
b) Is an app / service able to remain in the background, then when a
bluetooth device becomes in range and "reconnects" have the service
relaunch the controlling app.

I'm not after any code, just whether its able to be done, then I'll look for developers to build it.

Doesn't look like it. I constantly use a bt handsfree and just recently bought a bracelet and couldn't get them to work together. It's either the handsfree or the bracelet.
