Music interrupted by notifications

Background:
I've seen a million threads, so I'm going to try to be as specific as possible. This is not intended to be a general thread on the subject, but a search for a specific solution.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3and I use the default app for playing music (Music Player). When I'm listening to music, and I receive a text message, email, Facebook notification, etc... The music pauses for a moment, the ringtone plays, and then the music eventually resumes. I'm sure many, if not all, are aware of this.

If you are not familiar with the way an iPhone handles the situation, it lowers the volume of the music to about half, plays the ringtone, and then brings the volume back up to normal (essentially "fading" the volume of the music in and out). This is the functionality I am looking for.

I understand you can silence the ringtones, put it on vibrate, watch the external LED, etc.

What I am asking (TLDR):

How can you achieve the same music fading functionality on a Galaxy S3 (with the stock OS) that the iPhone has when you receive a notification?

I am not opposed to trying different music apps, if that will solve the problem. (Note: I play my music locally, it is not streamed).

Thanks for your help :)
