Music Player Android Car Stereo Kitkat 4.4.4

With the default music player there is no shuffle feature, only a replay one, and I was wondering if there are any apps out there that not only include the shuffle feature but the ability to override all other sounds that are currently playing. For example if I have my car radio playing and I open my default music player, it stops playing the radio and starts playing music, but when I download a music player from the google play store the radio continues playing with the music at the same time.

I have poweramp connected to my car system by bluetooth.
I use tasker to set it that when my phone is being charged and detects a bluetooth connection to car stereo to start poweramp.
One it opens it automatically starts playing my music from where it left off.
I have about 5000 songs on an sd card in my phone and can choose, all songs, artist album or playlist and can then choose for the selection to play one after the other or to shuffle within the folder.
I usually select all songs and then shuffle so the 5000 songs play at random.
Hope this is of some help.

I've heard good things about Poweramp too. I use AstroPlayer but can't recommend the current version -- mine is a few years old but keeps me fairly happy ;)

Do these apps play music on your device?
How do I purchase music for Google music player? I downloaded music with my other phone, but now with the new one I cannot buy music. Can I still buy music and have it stored on my phone and eventually move it to an SD card?

yes

the process should be the same as how you did it previously; generally, an Android phone needs an associated Google account, absolutely necessary if you want to buy something from the Play Store (to the best of my knowledge). you can also download music from other online sources, such as Amazon

hope this helps
