Music Player App: Seeking a New One

Currently using DoubleTwist.

Problem is that DoubleTwist looks all through all the device storage and gathers everything up - podcasts, phone recordings.... the whole nine yards. ..... You're on the treadmill or something - doing a Shuffle All Songs - and it keeps stumbling into podcasts and recorded phone conversations.

So the main thing I am looking for in a replacement is the ability to tell the app exactly where to look for music - and not have it go anywhere else.

A Song Delete function would be a Nice-To-Have... but with Andorid 5 and 80+ gigs of songs on an external SD card, I thinking that's not in the cards...

So its' back to an app that lets me tell it where to look and only looks there.

Anybody got something they like?

I use Pulsar+.... You tell it the folder and also has a equalizer, reverb, bass boost, virtualizer, loudness settings. Also album art and tag settings.

MediaMonkey (free) lets you choose which folder(s) you want to scan into its media library. It's under "Options". It's a nice music (and video) player with lots of options, including an equalizer, search, folder-playing, UPnP/DLNA streaming, bookmarking, etc.

FYI: If you use the free MediaMonkey media player for Windows (which is nice for playing & managing your music & playlists and editing your tags, etc.) you can sync your media & playlists (or optionally subsets thereof) between your phone and PC (bidirectionally or one-way in either direction).

You should go with Musixxmatch... Interesting app. But it scans the entire library which you dont need it. However, it also has delete option directly from the app.

PowerAmp. Allows you to specify the folders it can use, has a delete function, and the best audio quality.

I use PowerAmp and it has the ability to search where you tell it to.
For example, I set it to search in my external sd card, in the Music folder (where I have all my music).
Is that what you mean?
Exactly...

Just installed PowerAmp and that looks like the ticket to me. ..... Thanks...

2 Questions:
  • Has anybody found a way to tell PowerAmp to play songs with a certain rating?

  • Has anybody found a way to set the delay between songs?

In Library screen don't you see Top Rated category? Not sure how it chooses what to include in top rated though, might have to play about with ratings and see.

Gap related playback options are in Settings > Audio > Fade, Crossfade and Gapless - depends on what you want to do right enough.
