Music player songs skip like a CD would

I have the original Samsung Galaxy S 4G from T Mobile, and just recently within the past month or so, I noticed my songs will have skips in them like a CD would. It happens with my Player Pro app, my other music app, and also it skips while listening to Pandora. I have cleaned out a few apps that I never used, and 'forced stop' ones that are permanently on the phone that I never use.

I read some other posts saying to clear the data and clear cashe. I'm worried I'll lose my songs if I do that. Will I? How does that work?! Not all songs are purchased, a lot were uploaded when i got the phone almost a year ago from CD's or iTunes.

Why is the music skipping and how can I fix that? As everyone else said, it is very irritating! -When answering, be aware that I am not very technologically educated! Keep it simple!! Lol!

First off, do you by chance know what format and what bitrate the songs you have are? Or where you got them?

No I don't. All I know is that I've had these same songs on my phone for over 6 months, and never had any issues. All of a sudden, they skip. 5, 6,7 times a song.

Is the phone showing any signs of being slow? If it suddenly goes off to do something else while playing a song, it could sound as if the song is skipping.
