music player won't get off lock screen

I was playino music in my van using the google play widget via bluetooth. My problem is when the music is turned off (or disconnected from bluetooth), the lock screen doesn't go back to normal, it still shows the music controls. The app is not registering as open in task manager or active apps. I had to go to settings > applications > application manager and choose the google play app and force close. That seems like a lot? I'm pretty new to this, as I just got my s5 yesterday!

Thanks for the help!

Hi there runningmomto3, and thanks for joining us here at Android Forums :)

I moved your post into the Android Applications subforum where it will get better exposure with fellow users of Google Play Music (like me!)

I frequently encounter what you're describing. I listen to music via Bluetooth on my drive in to work. When I pull my phone out later, the widget is still on the lockscreen. I've never really considered it a problem - it can often be kind of handy in other circumstances to be able to "unpause" my music without having to unlock my device.

I'm trying to think through what makes the widget go away, though. I want to say that the widget remains present as long as Google Music is present in the notification pulldown. If I knock Google Music out of my notifications (by the tiny little "x" at the top right of that particular notification) it disappears from my lockscreen as well.

Hope this helps - and once again, welcome! :)

I'll poke around a bit and see if I can come up with some other ideas :)

Edit: Though I've got to take my dog to the vet so it may be a little while before I can get back to you. :D

What music app are you using? Is it the stock Samsung music app?

I'm using Rockey Player. I always have the music playing in my car via BT. When I turn the car off, the music player lock screen widget does appear on the screen. It then goes away after a while on its own.

This is what I'm seeing too. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to when and why it finally goes away, but it'll be there a few minutes after I get out of the car and not there a few hours later.

runningmomto3, is your music widget persisting on the lockscreen for an unreasonable amount of time (an hour or two instead of a few minutes)?
