I just can not get this thing to play my music
It's wma, I dl my video's, they play. I formatted the SD cardWhat format is the music in, like is it WMA(Windows Media Audio)? Because usually Android devices don't support playing WMA.
Assuming you're using the default media player app, install either VLC or MX Player. Both are able to handle a much wider range of media file types, and if you dig into their settings allow for a lot more customization and interface changes.
MX Player (free version does have a lot of ads)

MX Player Pro

VLC (no ads)

Yes, just go start up the Play Store app and install one or the other. For simplicity, just search for 'VLC' (minus the quotes) and it'll be in the results page. Once it installs itself, there will be an icon in your Apps menu. You mean I have to install an app on my phone?
I just came back from metro and they suggested I dl another music app on my phone, WTF, it pissed me off. So are you saying I need to do that too!?
FYI the reason why Android devices don't support Windows Media natively, is because it's proprietary to Windows and is patented, which means device manufacturers would have to pay lots of $$$(millions) to Microsoft. Third-party user installed apps can support WM if they desire, e.g. VLC. Apple products don't support WM natively either.
