Help MXQ 4K keeps rebooting

TouchFly

Lurker
OK so new box and I've never had this issue with any other player.
I installed latest KODI and put on Beast build. Randomly my box resets while using KODI. I dont know if this is a KODI thing, Beast thing or my box. Just now I opened KODI and tried watching something and it reboot my box. Last night I was able to watch 2 movies and a show back to back without issue.
Here is where it gets strange. I removed some items from the main menu as I do not need them, and after this reboot, the default skin items were back! ... HUH?
AT no time does the box reboot by just having it on like browsing through the main menu. Even used the built in YouTube and all was good.

Any ideas?

I did a factory reset. Removed the pre-installed KODI (15.2) and installed latest Jarvis from KODI website.

I don't have the answer for you but...

The Android TV boxes are seemingly hyper-sensitive to any changes that are made to them.

I have absolutely given up tinkering around with them because they just seem to fail when even the simplest modifications or changes are made.

I have also had problems with KODI on my Android TV box. It works for a while, does everything it should, then WHAM! The box resets to the built-in version. (15.2)

I'm guessing that the customized 'Beast' version of KODI is upsetting the TV box... but who really knows, right?

I'd gladly pay a premium price for a box with reliable parts because these boxes (when they work correctly) are just awesome.

Yeah, I think it's hit an miss with these China boxes. I have an MXIII 4K that works awesome and has been for nearly a year. This batch of MXQ 4K though ... I have 3 that have worked fine but have 3 that are buggers.
I try and have them throughout the house but I may just get Amazon Fire Sticks and quit messing with these cheap boxes.

I may just get Amazon Fire Sticks and...

There's not much you can do with an Amazon Fire Stick.

I really like the cheap Chinese boxes because they are so versatile and (potentially, at least) very customizable.

Of course, you only get all of these features and customization perks if the device is sturdy and made to last.

Hopefully, in time, we'll get higher specification led boxes made from better quality components.
I for one don't mind paying extra for that.

One thing's for sure... my WD TV LIVE player is suddenly looking very obsolete!
