Help my 4.4.4 backup not work on 5.0

What phone and what did you use to backup
It doesn't work, there's not much we can do, sorry.
I had the very same message when I updated my Xperia Z1 to lollipop.
Did you wipe before you upgraded? Did you save the backup to your SD Card or did you back up using PC Companion?
The only thing I can think that would work is using Flashtool and a 4.4.4 ftf file to downgrade to 4.4.4, restore your apps, take the 5.0 upgrade again, then backup the apps whilst on 5.0.
Convoluted, but it is what it is.
