My Amazon store apps need connectivity...why?

Most, if not all of, my Amazon app store apps seem to require connectivity to open. If they've been opened recently (with connectivity), they may open the next time without connectivity. Any idea why and what I can do?

I uninstalled the Amazon app store and all my Amazon apps for this very reason. Sometimes I want to play a game and I don't have an internet connection.
Perhaps if they explained why or even told me it was a requirement up front I would be O.K. with it. Or maybe my tinfoil hat is on too tight...get off my lawn!

Could be license check function. Some apps from Google Store has this function too. It's a problem on the developers end.

If it's licensed, some need a check. I have some self-contained Amazon apps that don't need it. I can turn off data and wifi to save battery and still run the app.

Some licensed apps to build in the check. I have some expensive ones that will run with no connection. The check is in the app itself. This includes Play.
Most of these apps get used where there might not be any phone, data or wifi available. They are mostly Nature and Astronomy.

I contacted the developer of one of these, the awesome Essential Anatomy 3, and they had no idea why this was happening...but it does.

Ok that's weird. I have Essential Anatomy 3 from Amazon too. I tried running it on airplane mode and it worked fine. Have you tried a reinstall or something like that? Clear cache or data?

I think I figured it out. If I enable "Collect App Usage Data", it works without connectivity. When I didn't have it enabled, it wouldn't.

I think enabling allows it to transfer the data whenever it can even if the app isn't being used. So, when the app is launched without connectivity, it knows from a recent transfer that the app is mine.

I bought Easy tether thru Amazon. I just want the app not thier big brother crap. It seems I'm tethered to them. Any way around this other than buying it from some other direct source?
