my annoyances with swype!

Hey I love swype! couldnt get by without it.

BUT, there is a few things that really get me vexed when using it and I was just curious if anyone else shared these...

sometimes a word gets stuck at the end and you have to press the last letter to get the word to finish - like I will be putting in the word 'fish' and the blue line gets stuck from F to H and I have to touch h in order for it to complete and go on to the next word...

When I hold the erase button to erase a full word and not just a letter it gets stuck down and erases the entire sentence or paragraph. VERY annoying!

and some words are almost impossible to get right without trying 4-5 times. Example.... 'picture' and 'last'

anyways.. anyone else?

oh how do you delete word from the dictionary because every time I try 'last' I get LSAT. lol
 
I think the first two problems are due to a lag on your phone and not from Swype, per se. If the operation of your phone is choppy you might want to use an app like Watchdog Lite to see what's using the phone resources at the time.

If you go to menu>settings>language & keyboard>Swype Settings>personal dictionary you can add the words you keep getting poor matches and delete the words you don't want. To delete a word, hit the minus sign, check the box next to the word and then hit the trashcan ... convoluted process if you ask me, but it's how you do it. :)
 
Yes, I wish the it was easier to select particular text to delete. Hate it when the whole sentence disappears!

My main gripe is when filling out forms (even just user and password) in portrait, you fill in the 1st line, and the keyboard hides the rest of the form (for does not scroll down automatically). You have to hit the back button to get rid of the keyboard, then click the next blank.... very annoying.
 
you have to delete the data every so often, because swype adds all sorts of junk works without confirming if kdfdol or lsdkfd are really words you want to add to the dictionary.
Of course, if you have added and want to keep custom words, then this is no good...
 
Yeah, it adds EVERY contact name as a dictionary word (and I've got a lot off oddball contacts). What I did was wipe the dictionary after the most recent upgrade (yesterday) after it loaded all the words, then added a few I wanted there. I don't think it adds words unless you confirm to add them.
 
Its difficult for me to wipe since Swype doesnt come in my home country's language, so I basically taught it hundreds of new words. What I do is just delete those random misspells everytime they come up, and try to type better next time.
