My calendar sends apponitment to the top- Why ?

Hi I used to have a windows phone. The way the calendar is done in android which I am new to seems similar but I have a problem I think. When I type in the time and date I want an appointment to finish it sends it to the top of my screen and not in the appointed time slot.

So if I set it to display from : Mon 24 Jun 2013
to : Sun 30 Jun 2013 and then set 'Daily' it sends the appointment to the screen top and not to the allocated time I set. On a windows phone it sets it as a daily appointment that happens in the same hour each day till it finishes for those number of days. Please ask if you misunderstand as a calendar is the main thing I use on my phone so I'm hoping someone will see this and respond - it would be greatly appreciated as its driving me nuts at present - just cannot solve it sorry guys.

Extra information if required -

I did import a share link into from hotmail calendar to move my Google calendar on my desktop which has synced to my mobile automatically - could this cause a bad phone reaction and would you want further details for this ?

Many thanks.

Because you set it as an all day event. The app thinks that your appointment starts at June 24 and ends at June 30. It's set as a single appointment spanning 6 days.

If you want an event to be recurring, enterbthe details and the time for one day. For example enter it as June 24 9am to 10pm. Then you set it as a repeating reminder daily until June 30.

Thanks for your help. The tick box is honestly not ticked. I've even re-checked this just to be certain on seeing your answer. Nothing is ticked. I have used calendars as I say with windows phones which is the same format. Is it a case of going back to the importing I mentioned above as a possible cause of the problem. Do I have hard re-set my phone ? I hope not of course. Thanks very much I should of pointed out I have it unticked sorry!

Doesn't matter if you have the box unticked. The start date and end date span several days. They should be on the same day. You should enter the appointment for June 24 ONLY, then set it to repeat daily until June 30.

Hi thanks for your help. Okay I have set it to the same day. I am then pressing one time event to reveal a new menu of options - one is daily , weekly and many more. I pressed Daily and there is no further option I can find on my phone. It is the Huawei Ascend Y300. Below the repetition options are are reminders 10 minutes and Notifications as options and nothing else. Is my calendar up to date or part of an old android system with the calendar only- the phone is brand new. How do I update the software if I need too ? Are you sure your method is correct ? I'm normally good with calendars but it appears I must be doing something wrong still - my apologies ! Just to add I noticed that it does say London is GMT + 1 and it is not it is GMT - 0 - ie our time zone is neither plus nor minus. Remember the importing as well from hotmail to my PC calendar in google via the link was done. I'd of thought this would have less influence on a missing mode on my calendar though for repetition assuming it is missing. Sorry for any presumptions by the way as I could be completely wrong! :)

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi yes it is syncing to Google after a short delay on refresh. I will try to work out if the new phone bought from Carphone warehouse in the UK, a top brand shop for mobiles in the UK, has acquired the correct operating system on the newest mobiles. I wondered if just the calendar has been affected but it still the newest android op. Any how I am jumping to many rash conclusions. When you use yours I assume you always press repeat > select daily and then go somewhere else ..... ie in that same screen accessing more options for days you want the appointment to finish. I might pop out to carphone warehouse to see what they say about it as its very close. Any how let me know what you think I should do next and perhaps if your unsure someone else could add there thoughts to this thread ?

I have Android 4.1.1 under settings ''about phone" . It's chinese Huawei Ascend Y300 with the phone I have. The updates using wifi via internet say 'none found' - so it must be up to date I'd of thought. Again I don't know much about phones so updating I think only makes it secure as opposed to affecting firmware or operating systems. Note name of phone above if needed.

Thanks again!

It probably won't matter as I am using a Samsung phone. Huawei is probably using a different calendar app. It's not just about having correct Android, its about having the correct app. In my case, when I tap the daily option in the repeat event section, a popup appears asking me how long should the event repeat. I used to use Samsung's Touchwiz Calendar and now their S Planner Calendar.

I'll suggest downloading a different calendar app, like aCalendar or Jorte.

It’s true. I have a Huwaei Ascend 2 and use its Google calendar. The only way to get an appointment to pop up to the top is to select All Day, otherwise it just invents a time and places it appropriately.

Hi thanks sorry I had not realised things were not standardised on operating systems. Jefboyardee just to say I am looking to get the google calendar app on both our phones to instead show the appointment next to the time itself. So I wanted to set a schedule for the same time each day for 4 days running for example. So I go into the daily screen to do this and it shows nothing after pressing it to allow the appointment to end after 4 days - so it carries on indefinately. So I am not looking to do all day events instead the opposite. If you say you have the same problem then I'd need to use aCalendar or Jorte a different app. Thanks for those suggestions chanchan05 much appreciated for you time and advice. Can I just ask if I can still synchronise them to my PC to some sort of other program ideally or Google calendar still. I am still fairly new to apps as when I used windows 6.1 you always had to download the app to you PC then send the app to your email and open it on your phone which I could never be bothered to do. So the app world is new to me really.

Thanks all!

Okay I download the latest app from Google calendar on android play and it gives the right options and allows use of the Google featured calendar online. It might be better in regard to keeping all things google within my browser for various reasons. Thanks for all your help though folks

Glad you have it fixed now. Just come back and make a new thread should you encounter any more trouble. Enjoy your phone!
