my computer does not recognize my phone when USB connected

I have an Android 4 G (Verizon). my computer does not recognize my phone when USB connected. I downloaded an HTC Sync program from your site and it still does no good. I went into 'Connect PC" and checked disk drive, and HTC Sync Manger neither of them work. What do I do?
 
Hi and welcome to Android forums. :)

I don't use the HTC Sync Manager on my computer, I just installed the standalone USB drivers and the phone connects perfectly now. I had exactly the same issues as you when I tried the official software.

The HTC Sync program is a bit rubbish really, to be honest. The best thing you can do is to make sure you have the latest HTC Sync Manager from the HTC site and try that - HTC Sync Manager

Failing that, download the USB drivers from XDA at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211791.
