My defaults keep disappearing

I'm running Cyanogen mod 7 and have a problem that's driving me nuts. Every day or so, I need to choose my app defaults again. This happens if I have restarted the phone, but sometimes it just happens regardless.

So I press the dial icon on Go Launcher and get a prompt to choose the dialer app I want to use. Or tap a link in an email and get a prompt to choose my default browser. Annoyingly, I also sometimes get it when starting a call via my Bluetooth car kit - which means I need to read the screen and pick a default while driving, or just leave the call until I get to where I'm going.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Usually why an app gets an update (or a new one is installed), all defaults that could potentially use that app are cleared, so you have to choose again.

Could that be the problem?

This is not true. Updating any application always preserves the application data (providing that the app developer did not do a terrible mistake while coding).

I am having the same issue, and I am not rooted, I also have not accepted the latest two updates, I was thinking that was my problem...

the same thing is happening to me. im on redux 1.2 rom. really annoying. it never happened to me when i was on cyanogen though.

The settings within the app are preserved but say if I Dolphin HD as my default browser and then download Opera, next time I open a link to a website I'm asked if I want to use the stock browser, Dolphin or Opera along with a 'remember my choice' check-box. I'm pretty sure the same thing happens if dolphin gets an update.

Sorry, I just misunderstood your previous post. I think you are right - the default program, that is bounded to the given file type is reset after the program update.

NO it's not your phone, as I have the same problem also. We are both using CM 7 and Go launcher. Maybe there is a connection to them that is causing this problem.
