Well I am one of the lucky ones that was able to get a droid yesterday. I swapped my Incredible for the X and here are my comparisons after one day. I very much liked the Incredible and it was my first Droid. I will also add that my previous phone was a Palm centro, and I also own an Ipod Touch, just FYI.
Things I really liked about the Incredible
1. Easy to sync with Microsoft outlook (Non exchange server) using HTC Sync. and a usb cable. No Google Gmail required!!
2. Small and light, bright and vivid screen
3. Excellent Camera indoors or out
Reasons I turned in the Incredible:
1. Virtually impossible to see the screen in bright sunlight
2. Battery life really poor, One day max
3. Not the biggest fan of the touch typing, keying on the HTC.
Things I hate about my new Motorola Droid X:
1. Having to use Gmail for calender, and contacts, it is absolutely silly, and beware that you if you have multiple gmail accounts that only the first one you load onto the phone will be able to sync the calendar.
2. When downloading email attachments the Droid will not allow you to set limits for size of attachment which can suck down a lot of battery if you don't need all the attachments. My old Palm, and all Blackberrys will allow you to set a limit on each email message.
3. The camera takes grainy pictures indoors.
Things I really like about the Droid X:
1. The screen size is really nice, although it is no where near as bright as the Incredible.
2. The battery lasts quite a bit longer than the incredible.
3. The feel is nice and sturdy, but the giant size feel weird in my hands and it is tricky to use the phone with one hand to do even simple tasks like answer a phone call.
Overall I am very happy with my switch to the Droid X, but both phones are excellent. I only hope that with the next release of Android they add some of the features I described for Email download size control, and allow a simple program to hard wire sync with outlook.
