My friend has a verizon plan with unlimited data, can I..

Ok so my friend has unlimited data, and has thought about leaving and going to another company, but is unsure.

I suggested that I either wanted to take over her account (she is out of contract) or wanted to be added additionally. How would that work either way?

Bottom line I want a new phone subsidized. Is there a way to be added to her contract and get unlimited data and a subsidized phone? I'm okay with either being in a new 2 year WITH unlimited data or unlimited without a contract. She hasn't decided if she is staying with them or not.

I can get my own line if I have to, but trying to see if there is a cheaper way going this route. Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, Verizon will only grandfather the unlimited data plan in if you already have the phone outside of contract. If you want the subsidy you have to get one of the new plans.

The only thing you can do is perform a AoL and use a phone that isn't purchased at a subsidized price from Verizon.

You have to pay full retail or fine a phone with a clean ESN online for a cheaper price.
