My galaxy s fails to send long messages?

My Galaxy S for tmobile will not send messages longer than 160 letters. I used to be able to on my old non smart phone with the same carrier in the same location. How can I fix this?

There is usually a setting within most messaging apps to set it to send long messages in 2 parts. That way whenever you send a long message beyond 160 characters, it will be sent in 2 seperate messages, one right after the other. Hope this helps you.
