my galaxy tab 10.1 has just gone black. I have set no security up on the tablet and when I push the on button, nothing happens

You are going to want to make sure your Galaxy Tab 10.1 is fully charged. After making sure your battery is charged, press and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds. This will force the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to restart.
I had something like that happen to me on my Samsung Galaxy device, I held the power button down and it started right back up. I hope this helps you.
