My LG G6 takes more than 6 hours to fully charge

You read the title right. It was 5pm when I plugged the phone in the charger with 3% battery. It's 11:30pm now and it's 87% charged and still needs 1 more hour to fully charge.

The LG G6 supposedly has Fast Charging but this is anything but. Also, every time I plug the phone in to charge, I get a "Slow charging message" which gives me some tips that don't work, like rotating the cable or making sure the charging port is clean.

- I have Greenify.
- I'm using auto-brightness.
- I'm using GIF Live Wallpaper which turns any gif into a wallpaper.
- I empty my recent tasks regularly, I don't multitask much or at all.
- I'm using Nova launcher.
- Wifi is always on, except when I sleep.
- Mobile data, bluetooth, location are always off.
- Most of the times, my phone only gets 1 bar of signal.
- I'm using the cable and charger that came with the phone.

I did all this on my older phone, LG G4, and not only did I have better screen on time, but it charged much, much faster. The phone is 3 days old. Any advice appreciated.

It's one of two issues. Either you're using the wrong charging brick (which is usually the less likely of the two since it clearly says 'fast charge enabled' on the brick) ooooor you're most likely using a wire that's either not the original wire or it is suffering from a short.

I'm using the cable and charging brick that were included with the phone in the box, I'm not using aftermarket stuff. The one thing I forgot to mention is that I have the charger brick plugged in a cable power extender and not the wall but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Like a male to female extender? If that's the case, it'll definitely give you the slow charging issue. I had the same problem with my s4

It's actually a bit more than that. I have a cable power extender connected to the wall socket which has a bunch of devices on it like my TV, PS4 and laptop charger and then I have a second power extender connected on the first one. The second power extender is where I charge my phone. You think that's the issue?

Holy crap, bro.

If you can, just use the regular brick and the OEM wire you received and just plug them into a regular wall socket. If it charges normally, then it's the adaptor.

It might be, but why would the LG G6 take more than 6 hours to charge and the LG G4 would charge normally within 1-2 hours? It's seems weird to me.

Had the same problem. Then I tried pushing the usb end with the wall plug in harder and it popped in. I'm used to the samsung chargers where they don't click all the way in. Hopefully, your fix is just that.

I just picked up the LG G6 and it was taking forever to charge......in fact it didn't gain at all while doing the initial updates. Evidently I did not push the cable into the factory wall adapter hard enough so it was doing a slow charge. Once the cable was properly pushed in I get 1 1/2 charge time from 15% to 100%.

On a side note I am quite happy with the battery duration, moderate use will get me two days worth. Heavier usage will still last the whole day (running screen brightness at 45%).
