My moboplayer can't play flv videos

I grasped a video from youtube using tubemate, saved as a flv file. But the moboplayer just won't play it, anyone knows why?

BTW< MY phone is samsung I9003

Many different situations maybe, you should check you moboplayer can play other videos or not, check your FLV video is all right. And check your Sumsung goes well.

My moboplayer has no problem playing avi and rmvb (only two type of files i tried so far), and the flv video I grasped from tubemate run well on the pc....

First try to play other flv files to see if the issue is only with this one.
Next get MediaInfo to your PC, open the flv file with it, select Text format and paste here the result.
Finally, if you can, provide a direct link to the youtube video.

I just played an FLV file with MoboPlayer on my LG Optimus S (Android 2.2).

My guess is that either your hardware isn't compatible with MoboPlayer or that the FLV file is corrupt, or the FLV file is a higher resolution than your hardware is capable of decoding.

Does MoboPlayer play other video file types on your phone? Does it play low-res FLV files?

Transcoding from one lossy compression format (like FLV) to another (like MP4) decreases the quality. If the original poster wants to download FLV files from YouTube, it would be better to figure out how to play them without converting them.

I use freedi and my dl'd youtube videos look better than the one I had just watched...besides these little screens don't need massive resolutions

That may be your opinion and maybe that's because you have a really bad FLV decoder, but from an objective, scientific viewpoint the transcoded video is lower quality.

That's not true for a tablet device. But in any event, it's better to figure out how to play the original FLV than to deal with the hassle and degradation of transcoding to a different format.

This brought me thinking: often it is possible to get from Youtube several links to download the same video, like low rez flv, 480p mp4 or 720p mp4. In such cases
selecting the right resolution mp4 could be a better choice (for example, 480p mp4 for my HTC Desire).

LOL Im sure my tv is bigger than an 8in tablet screen...anyway it sounds like he is already dealing with a hassle in that his videos dont play. I was getting at what utsa said, not downloading and converting to change the file type.
