Help My music

I am admittedly a tech dummy. My question is about music on my S3. How do I get it all into the correct file so that all my tunes play on my phone? At the present all of my music is in a file on the phone titled 'music, problem is not all of my songs show in my player on the phone. I moved everything to the sd card via my laptop and still the same. I renamed a song so that I could tell if it updated my phone and moved everything back to the phone from the sd card and still nothing! Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong please!!!

Hello Perry Monholland. Keeping your .mp3 files in a folder named music, be it internal storage of SD card should work. If it's just a few files that your player isn't seeing, it's likely a problem with the file itself. Most all music players don't read the file name but read a hidden file within the .mp3 called the metadata file. If the metadata file does not exist it will prohibit your player from seeing the file.
As a test I suggest you copy a file that's missing in your player to your PC. Double click the file and see if that invokes your player over the file. If it doesn't, there is a problem with the file. The metadata can be added to the file so don't delete it. You will find many players and programs that will allow metadata editing.

I hope this helps in some fashion.
