Over Macho Grande?
OK, so it's about that time. I originally built my last rig in Jan '09. So time to shoot for something new that should last 4 years or so.
(Some stuff I have now will be moved into the new rig even though some of it is pretty old.)
Current:
-Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (OC'd to 3.8GHz)
-EVGA x58 (e758) Mobo
-GSkill 12GB DDR3 1333 RAM
-Noctua crazy big copper heat sink
-CM Cosmos case
-EVGA GTX 670 4GB (Main GPU)
-EVGA 8400GS (Secondary GPU)
-SAMSUNG 830 Pro 512GB SSD (Main C drive)
-3x Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB HDs (Secondary Storage drives)
-Corsair 1000W PSU
New build (planned for this month sometime probably)
================
CPU
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz
MOBO
EVGA Z77 FTW
RAM
CORSAIR Vengeance LP 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1600
GPU
EVGA GTX 670 4GB (already have)
SOUND
Creative X-Fi PCIe (already have)
COOLING
CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Water Cooler
CASE
NZXT Phantom 820
Corsair Obsidian Series 800D
Main HD
SAMSUNG 830 Pro 512GB (MLC) SSD (already have)
Storage HDs
(3x) Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB (already have)
OS
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit
PSU
Corsair 1000W PSU (already have)
Monitors
30" Dell U3011 (already have)
24" Dell WFP 2408 (already have)
15" KDS LCD (old) x2 (only use 1)
Might add another 24" monitor and I have a GTX 480 I could use as a secondary card. But I have been using an 8400GS to power my 2 secondary monitors. I think 2 x 24" monitors might be a bit much for it.
The nice thing about the 8400GS though is it is much lower power and size than my GTX 480. GTX 480 just seems like overkill to use as a secondary card -- it takes up a ton of space and generates a lot of heat and uses a lot of power. Maybe I should sell it and get another 8400 or something. I also have 2 old GTX260s -- but like the GTX480, they are huge, bulky, and power hungry.
Basically I dont have a good idea what to do with my old graphics cards and monitors. I dont really have the ebay rep to sell anything worth over $100, (I have a rep of 2 out of 2 I think). And never tried the Craigslist selling route.
Spare parts:
-EVGA GTX480
-(2) EVGA GTX260
-6GB DDR3 1066 RAM
-Old Antec full ATX case
So thoughts? Ideas? Love? Hate? cguru:
