Help My Nexus 7-13 folder comes up empty

Novel8

Lurker
I tried to export my photo's and music to my computer, because I was thinking of doing a reset of my tablet. Connecting to my computer, i see the nexus 7 folder appear. I opened it and it was empty. Why am I not able to see my photo's there, anyone?

What version of Android are you running? With Android 6 and later, the default USB option was set to 'charge only', but your tablet will still show up under devices. When you plug in the tablet, pull down the notification bar and choose the USB notification. you should see an option to connect in MTP mode. Select that and your files should then be available to copy.

BTW, the next time you plug it in, it will revert back to 'charge only' so you'll have to do this each time.

Thanks, it worked as you suggested, partially. I managed getting the photo's, but how do i get now my music files? Yes, i do have Marshmellow 6.01. BTW, could you tell me what does MTP stand for...Google was of no help....also, is it possible to get Nougat on this tablet?

Again, it will depend on where your music is stored. If you play them through the media player on the phone, check to see if there is an info or properties button in the menu. That should show you the path to the files.

MTP= Media Transfer Protocol.
