My root canal photo NSFW?

From December 14th to January 12th I was dealing with a cracked crown on my tooth. I was downing 20 Ibuprofin a day, rinsing with Whiskey to kill the nerve, also applying Orajel to kill the pain. Well the tooth ended up getting infected and I had to get a friend to write me a script for Penicillin. I don't have dental insurance with my job so I couldn't just pop in and get my tooth fixed. I ended up having to borrow $3K from my mom. *sigh*

Anyway the tooth is 95% fixed just waiting on the permanent crown for my tooth. I asked the Dentist if I could get a copy of a photo of my tooth before they had worked on it at all. Here it is the brown is where the crown was cracked off...

Yeah pretty much... The pain of tooth dwarfed any discomfort of the root canal, I have photos of my tooth "prepped" (the crown drilled out), and a great X-ray of 3 files that are used to file out the nerve of the root of the tooth. You can feel them filing the nerves out. It's an interesting experience. I brought an iPod to "drown out the sounds" but you can't drown them out when the sound is IN YOUR HEAD!

Sedation dentistry bro... get yourself some halcion and its smooth sailing
Couldn't afford it. I had my previous dentist use some nice stuff on me for Sedation when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I remember going to the dentist and then waking up at my house the next day.

Halcion is cheap! $10 copay for the pills... ask your doc next time. You will need a ride. You can barely walk on it...

I just had a root canal recently, it was so bad that the infection ate at the bottom of my crown. I also got to smell that funky odor when the dentist was drilling, it was surely an interesting experience laying on that chair for 4 hours, but the vicadin sealed the deal for me :D

ohh dear lord thats nasty..

i hate the dentist.. one summer i decided it would be a solid idea to start eating powder sugar ice tea straight out of the can. ended up with 5 cavaties that summer. fml

My wife recently had a crown crack, but by the time the infection got to a place where she could feel it, the tooth was too far gone and they had to pull it out and give her a bridge. So you could have had it worse!

I'm from the UK, and when I visited the US a few years ago, I had to have root canal done. It would've cost me about $75 back home, over there it cost me $1,500.

I don't know what was worse, the pain from the tooth or shelling out so much money to have said pain removed!
