My Samsung GT-S5830i wont connect to my laptop

[Android Question]

When I try to connect my mobile to my laptop I get a message on my laptop saying the driver is not recognized. The phone will charge on one of the USB ports but not the others and it doesn't show up in My Computer as an external drive meaning that I can't transfer music, photos or any kind of files from my PC to the phone or vice versa.

Is there a software update or fix for this please.
