Help My tablet says the storage is full even though it isn't?

On my android tablet is says that the 'storage space is running out' it says I have 29MB available and then shows what's using up the storage and the biggest amount used up is 1.2GB on apps?
It has 32GB storage, and only around 1GB is being used up yet it says storage full I don't understand..?
